The hole is already deep so why not make it deeper, plus this is the only way he can secure his oil. If he back outs now he will lose the oil, and along with it his companies which are tied to the big O word will be in peril. The whole of the Republican party is going for it cus whats good for oil is good for big business. In the end all you have to do is follow the money.

Because he is the commander in chief, and he believes he is doing the right thing. And honestly, how do you know what most americans oppose? How does anybody? And don't say polls, because no one I have ever known has answered one of those polls. All the media does is feed us negative vibes so they can keep their jobs. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of the war, but I'm also not going to sit here and try to speak for most americans. If the public is that unhappy with a war over oil, then maybe they would stop supporting these Hollywood types that diss the president and then get in their private planes to fly halfway across the world and use up more gas, instead of using the same airlines the rest of us do.

When has the majority ever mattered when making executive decisions. That is why he is called the commander in chief. That way he does not need to get your opinion to make a move.
Besides who says the majority oppose his Iraq plan?

What I would like to know is who do they poll to get these numbers? Have you ever been asked? I haven't and I don't know anybody who has been asked to participate in a poll. I would like for my opinion to be heard and my sister has actually called the white house to give her opinion before. It's just that I think the media is behind most of what's going on. They only report the problems in Iraq and never the good things our soldiers are involved in over there. I was there as a soldier so I know the truth about we are doing there. We have helped thousands of Iraquis get out from under Saddams rule and torture. We have built schools, supplied books for educational purposes and hospitals. Has anyone noticed that the fanatical Muslims have bombed the schools we built and try to undo any of the good we do there. The terrorists are our enemies, not our government. The worst thing we could do now is to just pull out. If we do that, our country will be in big, big trouble with the terrorists because they will come here to fight us.

He is proceeding because we have to clean up the mess in Iraq. Leaving it the way it is guarantees the fall of the democratically elected government, leaving a vacuum that could potentially be filled by another terrorist-supporting theocracy.
