my mom is a muslim white. my dad is a muslim black. he is from Nigeria originally. that stupid Russian midget blonde jew said you are not muslim because your mom is white and your dad is black when i told her that i am muslim. then, the whole class said the same. not the whole class(but the ones who are friends with her). this was in my language arts class. there is no blacks in my language arts class. the whole class(her friends) said no blacks are muslim. the rapper t-pain, lupe fiasco, ice cube, and many more rappers are black muslims. malcolm x, eligah muhhamad. and most of all, islam is the 2nd major religion in africa. i see a lot of black muslims. i am half black but i got my a lot of my mom's genes. my mom's african american friend married a black american muslim. there are so many african american muslims

of route, there are Black Jews too. there is actual a Jewish community I had the prospect to correspond with in Africa. Jews are standard human beings. Your classmates probably do not realize that being a Muslim is only a religious affiliation not a racial one. A lot of people think that Muslims= Arab this is not the case. Arabs(racial distinction) are not neccessarily Muslim. Just as all Muslims are not neccessarily Arab.
The news coverage in the Middle East actually causes a lot of that confusion when we hear about Sunni Muslims and Shiite Muslims killing each other- one immediately assumes that it must be about race because what kind of religion has factions that embrace violence.
I would not worry too much about your misinformed clalssmates they will figure it out one day.

Tell her that many people in Nigeria are Muslim (after all, the main religions are Islam and Christianity there.) You were raised with your dad's religion, that's all. If she has an issue with it, tell her you're offended horribly, and that what she said was the equivalent of you saying she can't be Jewish because she isn't olive skinned (few Ashkenazim are olive skinned.)

Also, it's best not to use the term "midget." I'm of short stature from growth hormone deficiency(4' 10"), and it's not the best term. She's a person of short stature.

BTW, I was raised in a very conservative "Christian" Baptist home and my mother does not agree with my way of thinking, but after all these years she does respect my opinion.
