SURE. be prepared to make frequent stops however. Puppies need to potty every 1-2 hours. But traveling by van w/ a dog is an excellent idea.

You have to remember to exercise him at least 1 hour a day or he'll get very bored, destructive, etc.

Good Luck and HAVE FUN!!

Bad idea! They have rabies and all kinds of dangerous wild creatures your dog might fall prey to! But if you really want to do, how are planning on getting there? Transporting your dog by plane will be horribly stressful for you both. I don't know about quarantine, but that also is horrible. Can't you wait a few years and do this in another way? After your dog has has a happy and long life with you, and the time for goodbye has sadly come; this trip might be just the thing for you. Alone; or with a new pup you pick up once you are there and then bring back home with you.

I wouldn't recommend it at all. Being couped up in a van for hours on end is not a good life for a puppy at all. They need extra attention and lots of exercise. If you take your dog with you it will be much of a hassle. You will have to make frequent stops every hour or so since its a puppy and will need to use the restroom often. Do not bring your dog with you!! Not a good idea at all!!!

yes you certainly can ... just be aware that you can't always allow your pet to do his business anywhere (some places enforce a poopy pick up law) and motel 6 accepts dogs (not all hotels accept dogs and in some states the rules are more strict and hotel prices are increased). Be aware of temps and leaving dogs in cars (people quite often report this)

We've road tripped our black lab to quite a few states. And he's always been good at it ... professional traveller at the age of 9 now, and I'll miss the day when he's not tripping it with us!!! We do at least to road trips a year in our van, and he's travelled with as many as 2 adults and 3 kids. He's worn souvenier t-shirts and sunglasses and many hats (how kids love to play dress up)

enjoy your trip and if you have AAA check with them they used to have a dog friendly travel book, I know the book stores still carry them. It tells you all the dog friendly places to visit and stay as well as approx. costs and guidelines for pet safe travelling.

if you are already in the US, then the answer is yes, maybe. you might want to wait until the dog is housebroken or he will crap in the van which will be unpleasant. when you do go, AAA has a good book that lists all the hotels by state that accept pets. i think it's called "travelling with your pets". it also has good tips on things to do with them. it also lists dog parks by city but it seems to be a little incomplete.wait till the dog is at least 6 mo old.

Sounds like fun. Sure, take him with you. As long as he knows he has to sit quietly in the car. Bring plenty of water.
