this is a horrific story. that poor girl must have been to hell and back. for me i think when it comes to certain matters america and england are to soft on punishment. we all need stricter laws and punishment, they should be in prison by now for the rest of their lives if it was up to me.

I would not say that did or did not happen. If it is something that happened to your friend I must assume it is true, in which case it was, not to be harsh, poor judgement of character on her part. That doesn't mean she is to blame for the outcome, bad things happen to good people all the time. Anyone in any country is capable of anything. It is true that sometimes some criminals remain unpunished by the law in any country. In the USA, usually, if the victim of a crime is a citizen of the USA he/she may use his/her legal rights to prosecute the perpetrator of the offense. I would estimate in a case of rape a victim who actually attempts to prosecute should win the lawsuit about 95% of the time, which makes this story seem unlikely if you heard it from a friend of a friend. Even if your BEST friend told you it and she was the victim, anything can happen, and it is possible that her husband's father had been diagnosed with some disorder and his attorney found a "loophole" in the law that excused him. It's also important to know that laws vary in different "States". I have rambled, but, in general, I feel that the USA is not the BEST country in which to live, but almost the best, and compared to a lot of other places, I would prefer it.

I'm sorry, but how are we supposed to believe everything happened as you stated? What you are presenting is heresay because I'm going to take a wild guess that you are not the person this story is referring to, this most likely was relayed to you from someone else, who may or may not have been the girl in the story. At this point, there is no way to verify this story...so unless you can provide hard proof, I can only say this is a fabulous work of fiction.

That is an extremely sad story. The girl in question should have gone to the police. There are laws against this kind of behavior which _are_ enforced, no matter what other posters may think.
If this person is still in the U.S.A. it is not too late for her to go to the authority for help.

There are crazy people in every corner of the world... so all of you foreign women out there don't think you have something good just because the man is an american because once you get here if he is crazy you most likely will be stuck dealing with him

I see no mention of what happened after calling the cops.

We are not psychics.

If you want some justice, you have to ask for it. It doesn't just float around aimlessly.

Just because we are a nation built on the rule of law doesn't mean that the rule of law permeates everyone's life. You have to use the tools our laws provide.

The story is probably not true. It's probably just a bit of anti-American propaganda. Anyway what made you think that america was a great nation have you not seen what they are doing in the middle-east?

on second thoughts if they can treat Iraqi's like that your story could be credible (although i still highly doubt it)

P.S your english is good

Americans are no more great than any other people. There are a lot of sick people out there, and unfortunately a lot of the people making and enforcing the laws are violent and full of hate. Things are better to a degree in the US than in most other places, but only to a degree.

There are evil people everywhere, but my guess is that you are lying and made up the story. Give us some names, dates, and places so we can investigate.
