My boyfriend is so sweet and such a gentleman and always wants to do the right thing, the problem is that his ex wife gets half of his paycheck (before they take out his insurance and 401k so he gets less than she does) I work part time because we have a 2 year old son and we don't make enough to pay our bills.

I keep telling him I want to get a good full time job so that we can pay our bills and actually have a life and he keeps saying that he would feel bad if I had to work full time. I know that he is always looking out for me but I don't know if what he says is 100% true or if he is embarassed to admit that he would have a problem with me making more money than him.

My question is if I find a good job and end up bringing home more money than him will this crush his self esteem or is that an old stereotype.

He sounds like a good guy! I didn't have a problem with my wife making more money than me when we first met. We both had really good jobs, but it didn't bother me that she was successful and self sufficient. However, as a man, I do feel bad now, because I worked up until 6 months ago until I had to go out on disabilbity. Now I feel like less of a man because I feel like the man should work to support his wife. He probably just hates the idea of you having to work full time because he doesn't make enough to support you. It's definitely a man thing. We feel like it is our duty to take care of our girl. At this point though, it sounds like it would be the best thing for you both if you did get a full time job. Just tell him it's until you get back on your feet and get caught up. Tell him it's for the both of you and your future. I think you two will be just fine. Good luck.

My wife has always made more money than me, and I have no problem with it. We have a joint account, so all money goes into and out of the same checkbook to pay all bills and etc. It shouldn't make any difference. Amount of money shouldn't equal how much you love someone.

I have no problem with my wife bringing home more than I do. In fact, she takes home almost twice what I make. Granted, she doesn't work the "standard" 40 hr. work week that I work. I am a male in case you haven't figured that out yet. Good luck!

First, get outta your head with regards to the finished virgin element. Your putting it up on a pedestal. intercourse is a superb element, yet society overrates the hell out of it. What you could desire to do is paintings on your self. And it appears that evidently such as you're. As you look and experience extra advantageous, self assurance will come too. And self assurance my pal is fairly eye-catching to females human beings. As for the different stuff, expert counseling might help. It did for me. do not kill your self guy. Theres too many astounding issues to stay for. it's going to come. Your youthful. you purely gotta put in some paintings. it's going to pay off!!

OK first of all I am a female and I make more money than my fiance, at first it kinda bothered him but now he's OK with it. It shouldn't matter who brings in more money to the house hold as long as your working together than that's all that should matter

I think most people in a steady relationship pool most of their money together. That being the case, I would be delighted if my girlfriend earned more money than me. It would also mean that we were bloody loaded!!

I'm male, and no, it would not bother me in the least. I'd be proud of her in fact. I'm secure in my masculinity, so not a problem!

It wouldn't bother me in the least. It is a partnership, not a competition.
