Years ago my mother took me to the premaire of SONG OF THE SOUTH you know the one with Uncle Remus and Brer Rabbit, Brer Bear and Brer fox. The NAACP had issues with it in the 60s but not in the 80s when it was released in the theaters for the final time {when my mom took me to see it}. Ofcourse people will always find racism in everything and you cant please all the people all the time. I was wondering if there is a place I can purchase it for my child I am sure they will love the story telling, the cartoon, and the songs as much as I did.

As far as I know, Song of the South was only released on a Japanese laserdisc. Too bad, because it's such a good film.

It is out of print in VHS according to IMDB (http://imdb.com/title/tt0038969/laserdisc) and has never been made into a DVD. You're gonna have to scour Ebay and Amazon. Maybe check garage sales.

I had to get a copy from Korea. My friend transferred it from laser disc to dvd.
The only other place I've seen it was ebay, but very expensive!

It would have to be a bootlegged copy. Only other way is to go oversees. A few years ago someone let me borrow a copy they had received from, I think, Japan.
