It's very difficult either way. I'm from the US and my boyfriend from the UK. I'm living in London, but only because I came to university here. If the company you work for is big enough and has branches in the UK maybe they can sponsor you to come work here. Likewise, if he works for a company that can sponsor him, that's likely the only way he can get a visa for the US. You don't get a visa just because you want one, it's very difficult.
You should check out the 'points' scale they have for highly skilled people - if you're highly skilled enough, they'll give you a visa to come and work. Also, if you're a teacher or a nurse you're more likely to be allowed to come and work here.

Unless you are planning to get married, it's likely to be difficult either way. If one of you is a college student, consider going as a visiting student to the other's country. Also, check into BUNAC, I think you have to be under 26 to qualify for this Work in Britain program: http://www.bunac.org/usa/workinbritain/

Visa-wise, it would be easier for you to go to England than for your man to come here to America

My cousin was in the same situation as you. She ultimately made the move for many reasons, one of them being that it was easier for her to move there. They are very happy there, however they will be moving back here (US) when they have children because it is way too expensive there to raise a family (they are married now).

You should consider going there. It's hard to get a Visa to the US.

Assuming your BF is British (or a EU national) It depends on the nature of your relationship and what you want to do. Basically, if you are hoping to get a work permit and get a decent job legally, you are out of luck. If you want to go to school or just sit on your butt you will be in better shape.

It's pretty hard to come to the U.S. for an extended stay anymore, you'd probably be better off moving to the U.K.
