The Golden Ratio (phi) is the number that is equal to 1 + its multiplicative inverse, i.e.
phi = 1 + 1/phi.

Its value is approx. 1.618.

A Golden Rectangle has a width-to-length ratio of phi. If you draw a line segment inside it to separate it into a square and a smalle rectangle, then said smaller rectangle is also a Golden rectangle.

The Golden Section is based on a ratio which results in phi

Take a line and divide it so that the ratio of the large piece (B) to the whole line (A) is the same as the ratio as the small piece (C) to the large piece (B):
