When I turn on my comp, the fans run and the lights come on but the screen remains black and says NO SIGNAL INPUT. I checked all the connections and everything appears to be running right but it won't come on? I have minimal knowledge of the inner workings of my computer so any help would be great. Oh, and in english please. I don't understand most comp terms! LOL. Thanks!

The computer is hooked up to a monitor and a TV. The computer screen says NO SIGNAL INPUT and the TV screen just stays black so I don't think it's a connection problem with the monitor.

The computer was working fine and then I left it on and it froze and when I rebooted it I got the error message NO SIGNAL INPUT.

It's saying that because the electronics in the display are failing to see a signal on one of the wires in the cable.

Possible causes:

1) Your screen has broken internally and will not work without repair / replacement

2) The lead is broken (if it's built in to the screen then it's the same as #1)

3) The connectors are not seated properly or a pin is folded over or broken off.

4) The video card in the computer has died.

5) Oh, if you have a computer with a built in and an add-on video card or a computer with a twin-head video card you may be using a turned-off adapter.

6) Remote possibility... if you are using a digital video card and an analog monitor it would never have worked.

If you have another computer (or your friend has one...) try your screen on their computer and your computer on their screen. That will sort out which of screen or computer has gone wrong. If both screens have deconnectable video cables then try swapping cables over too.

At the end of that you'll *know* which bit is broken... and you'll *know* which bit to replace / take to the shop for repair.

The other diagnostic... what has been done to it since the last time it worked?

What he said above me, sometimes people force the connector into the video card and it bends the pins. This makes the monitor think it's not connected and you get the "No Signal Input" screen. If you have a flat screen, you should also check the other end going into the monitor, these sometimes get loose when you move around a monitor.

This happens when the video cable to the computer is disconnected or not connected completely. It could also happen if the video board in your computer is fried. You could purchase another video board to see if that solves the problem. They are very simple to install. Anyone can do it.

If you are running this monitor from a laptop, some of them have options to run only the laptop screen, only an external screen, or both. If you have it set to "Only laptop screen", then you will get this message also as the video out port on your machine will not be activated.

Recheck the connection where the monitor plugs into the computer. This usually only happens when the monitor is not connected to the tower properly. If it continues to happen there may be a problem in the connectors or cord. Good luck!

Either your video display adaptor isn't working or you are not plugged into it properly. Check the connection first.

Sounds like your monitor connector isnt seated properly or possibly one of the pins on it are bent or broken.
