no you dont...duno what people are talking about...you can download it onto your computer and play from there xP the mat also hooks up to the comp but some mats need a converter..
the downloaded version is called stepmania and it allows you to download your own song and put arrows along with it
to download the game, just google stepmania, the problem with stepmania isthat there are no songs in the beginnig..so you have to download them off of bearshare or limewire..or the site.. or w/e you use its very quick and i ended up with over 100 songs
if you want to ever try playing ddr with fingers xP theres a site lol

i used to play it on the dreamcast too it was great lol i had so much fun but i think you will need a dreamcast or playstation but nowadays i bet theres 1 somewhere for a pc if you shop around goodluck :) x ps i bet you could get 1 for about 10 pounds in english money on ebay which is cheap but im not sure what that would be in your money but they are really cheap now second hand id try ebay there the best bargain place goodluck again :)

Yes you will need a ps2. You can buy them off eBay for around $100 US. There are other games like DDR but you will need the ps2 to play them.
