set a list of questions relating to the type of work and list the answers you are looking for . Create a scoring method for the answers you hear. You can also score things like, presentation, dress, pace of speech, confidence, knowledge, experience. This method allows you to know you have selected on merit and not first impressions which can be very misguiding. If you are nervous, always have a glass of water handy, this prevents your voice drying up and you can offer the interviewee a glass too.

well i was always told if you had a good hand shake look the employer straight in the eyes and answered the questions with ease and confidence it would be a good interview so i guess that would be how i would conduct an interview

Check with HR to see if your company has a recruitment template, which will guide you as to what questions to ask etc. If not, think about the most important aspects of the position you want to fill, and the most important qualities the person needs to have, then come up with questions linked to that.

The best advice I can give is to stick to the job. Do not ask any questions that do not relate to the position. You can not ask about anything to due with age, religion, family, sex, sexual orientation, smoking, etc. Only asked questions that will directly apply to the position you are interviewing for.

I'd ask for specific examples of what the person has achieved in the past that relate to the role you're hiring for. Also ask for specific examples of what the person has done in the past in situations similar to the ones he/she is expected to deal with in the new position. Best predictor of future behavior is past behavior.

Welcome - welcome the candidate and make them comfortable
Ask - find out what you want to know about them

If you like them

Tell them about the company, benefits etc
See them out
