I went to court because a girl stole my husband of 18 years and I slapped her.She requested a domestic violence injunction so i have to stay away from her for a year. My boyfriend says it is a felony?? I don't think it is as I was not charged with anything....
Wouldn't the judge or the attorney said to me this is a felony??

It will be a felony if you dont obey the DVI. If you break that order, you will be found in contempt for disobeying the judges order, thus make it a felony!

A violation of the restraining order will not be a felony, but you shouldn't have any need to violate the court order.

Sounds like she just got an order of protection and nothing else was done. You would have had to go to court if you were charged with anything. Just stay away from her and all should be fine.

I don't think it is a felony. It might be if you go and deal with her in a similar manner again.
You should probably seek legal advise about that. Just to make sure.

Honey, if a girl stole my husband of 18 years, I would have done a little more than slap her! Good on ya! The wench deserved it!

It can be a felony depending on if it's premeditated. Maybe you should grow up and stop hitting people. It's not going to bring your husband back. How childish and petty, no wonder he left you.

A restraining order is not a charge. But you can get charged with violating a restraining order. I think that is still a misdemeanor.
