In space there is no up or down and there is no gravity. As a result, astronauts are weightless and can sleep in any orientation. However, they have to attach themselves to a wall, a seat or a bunk bed inside the crew cabin so they don't float around and bump into something.

I saw shuttle footage once, and they hang their sleeping bags upright and zip themselves up inside them. They are hanging in a verticle position, which surprised me. Each astronaut has a little room like a closet in which he hangs his sleeping bag and keeps his stuff. I don't know if all astronauts do this on all shuttles, but this is what they did in the footage I saw.
