What are the symptoms of ovarian cysts?
Many women have ovarian cysts without having any symptoms. Sometimes, though, a cyst will cause these problems:

pressure, fullness, or pain in the abdomen
dull ache in the lower back and thighs
problems passing urine completely
pain during sexual intercourse
weight gain
painful menstrual periods and abnormal bleeding
nausea or vomiting
breast tenderness
If you have these symptoms, get help right away:

pain with fever and vomiting
sudden, severe abdominal pain
faintness, dizziness, or weakness
rapid breathing

Irregular periods, really heavy flows when you do get them. Also, depending on what side your cyst is on, you will feel nagging pain on that side.
I have PCOS(Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) and went through so much pain with the stinky little buggers! But, someone told me to try Evening Primrose Oil capsules to help shrink the cysts, I can tell you in all honesty that it worked. It took about 3 months and I was taking 6 capsules a day, but then one day.. pain and cysts were gone, and I haven't had pain since.. that was in 1998.

Good Luck to you.

My first clue was stabbing pain in my lower abdomen when I was 15 years old! I am 44 now, and medicine has greatly advanced on this problem. My doctor told me before ultrasounds, many women were operated on for appendicits, then it was discovered that a cyst had ruptured.

Now it is classified as polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). You can have problems with your periods, excessive body hair, excessive weight gain, particularly around your middle, lack of proper breast development, dark patches on the skin. It also causes diabetes. Basically, your hormones are all screwed up, and if you aren't treated for it, you can become diabetic and infertile. I have a family member who has been on medication for a year now, and has lost weight, her breast have developed, and she feels 100% better. Please get the treatment your doctor offers; my only daughter is my miracle baby, because I was so messed up inside! Good luck!

A sharp knife stabbing type pain in the area of the ovary. It comes and goes anytime, it doesn't always linger all day long.Mine was diagnosed by internal ultrasound.
