Has anyone had the IUD Mirena put in? I am debating what form of B/C to use as I have four kids but the dr doens't want to tie my tubes because I am too young, yet I want it done. So I am debating on forms of birth control before demanding he does the proceedure. He recommends Mirena because I can't take the pill because of the fact that it simulates being pregnant and I ended up getting edema and diabetes when I was pregnant and he cautioned not to go on it. He recommends Mirena which in his opinion is the best on the market. Yet when I talk or search the internet, women had nothing good to say about it. Alot of women stated, pain in the abdomen, hard harsh periods and infections. My next door neighbour had it and she ended up pregnant on it. I need some womenly advice and fast because I have an appointment on the 18th to get it put in...

I have had the Mirena for over 6 months. I love it. I have 5 kids......do not want any more. I had it place on the 3rd day of my period and I haven't had a real period since then. I suffered from heavy painful periods before getting it. I didn't have any pain having it placed. The only thing is spotting off and on for the first few months. Just enough to be a small annoyance. I'm very pleased with the decision to get it. I was like you really worried because it seemed very difficult to find someone that had a good story about it. I had the mirena coil fitted in nov and feel ok,just got permanant spotting which im told will go in abt 4-5 months,lets hope early days for me but good luck for 18th try not to worry as i did, and it wasnt that bad,honest!

i had the merina for almost 2 years, i liked it because i didn't get a period. however i gained almost 15lbs during that time period and was on the same diet and exercise program i have been on for years. i had it removed almost 2months ago and have already shed some of the weight. its one of those pros and cons deals. it has its good points but also has its bad points..

i HAVE HAD IT FOR TWO YEARS AND LOVE IT. IT WAS PAINLESS AND HAS HAD VERY FEW SIDE EFFECTS. JUST SOME MILD CRAMPING AT FIRST. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.
