As per the Income Tax Act any money paid by an employer to an employee is termed as CTC. It includes all the component of salary.

CTC is the shortform of " Cost To Company ". It means the total amount that your employer / company is ready to spare for you in a month or in a year. usually mentioned in year . ie CTC per annum. Earlier companies will mention the Basic salary . And only payments to the PF, ESI etc - employees contribution will be deducted from this. Normally the Employers contribution, any other statutory tax the company has to pay on behalf of employee, etc will be paid and beared by company. But under CTC scheme, any payment company makes to any statutory bodies, PF contributions, taxes etc, will be deducted from this CTC amount. In other word, that is the total amount the company ready to shed for that particular employee.. be it in any form or means..
