How many ways are there of skinning a cat?

1) Take the disk drive out of your old computer and put it in the new computer and then use windows explorer.

2) Take the disk drive out of your old computer and buy a USB disk case for it... then you can plug the disk into the case and the usb into your new computer. Oh, and wall power is needed somewhere in there too as a USB port probably won't run a desktop disk.

3) Network the computers via USB or ethernet or laplink cable and copy files between them.

4) Get a USB stick drive and copy files off one computer onto the stick and then from the stick onto the other.

5) Got a CD writer in the old one? Write the files onto a CD.

6) Got a modem on them both? Dial them both up to the web and transfer files across the web using FTP.

There are more ways to skin that cat than that... some cost you money, some cost you time.

A few months ago I bought a bigger Hard drive and I did not know to much about computers but I did find a program which cloned my old Hard Drive onto my new one. It was easy and FREE..They of course want you to buy it so that you can use it repeatedly on different computers I guess but they offer a free trial download that is FULLY FUNCTIONAL & FREE..They give you a 15 day trial period before it is disabled (unless you purchase of course). I downloaded it, copied my old Hard Drive to my new Hard Drive and then uninstalled their program..Walla...I got what I needed and did not pay a penny for it. That was about 6 months or so ago & it worked perfectly...Try it out.. The program is called ACRONIS TRUE IMAGE...Hope that helps..good luck

This is what most of the external hard disks use they comprise of a ide connector on one side a usb2.0 hub on the other side . You could buy the entire assembly unit for about 500Rs thats about 100$ .
Ask for a external/portable kit
or a
ide to usb converter.
