I think its only to be expected, your baby is really grown up now. I think its a natural feeling. I recently got married and speaking to my mum afterwards, she said it feels like she lost a little bit of me and herself on the day despite being really happy for me and my wife.
As children grow and gain their independence it is bound to make you sad. But dont forget to be happy for yourself and them as you have done a great job raising them. Also have confidence in the way you have raised them to have the ability to survive in the world.
Youve done a good job as a mum.

She is not your 'little girl' anymore. she is 17, probably boy crazy, mobile phone crazy, makeup and hair crazy, and just being her wonderful self! You are remembering her when she was born, kindy, school, high school, she is about to start another chapter in her life. It makes you realise that time goes by so quick and before you know it, she'll be even older, dating, maybe even getting married and then you'll be weepy even more!
You said she is a great girl, so I think you should cry tears of joy over that alone. I hope you are proud of her.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Because your baby is turning into a woman before your eyes...how can you not cry? It is the end of a very long chapter in your life and the beginning of another. Go ahead a be a bit weepy... I'd be more worried if you didn't care. Best wishes!!

This is normal your a parent and she is getting closer to the age we consider as really grown up 18years. Wait till she's there. you may feel like she doesnt need you any longer and its hard to give up the 100% mum role. It will get easier and its now a good time to fill your life with other things that you have put on hold like hobbies or dreams that you havent fufilled yet. Enjoy your daughter as an adult and you start being you again. it fab.

My daughter will be 17 in 3 weeks and I feel the same way. She too is a good girl with good grades, a part time job, volunteers and very active in her school. I feel as if I am losing my baby. It is hard but it is inevitable. Be proud of yourself for raising a good girl.

it's perfectly normal 2 feel weepy.
ur lil girl is growing in2 a woman & u must have done a marvellous job if she's no trouble.
my lil girl is a lot older, i felt the same as u when she was a teenager.
in time u'll realise u will have 2 let her go & live her life without u standing at her side.
as no matter how old they r, we still c our little baby.
i cried out of fear, the unknown & the future.
but it passes gradually.
get those tears out now.
try not 2 let ur daughter c u upset, as it won't help.
it'll pass
i promise.
:)

Your daughter is a young woman no longer a child and you realize it's time to start letting go. It's time to develop an adult relationship with your daughter one that will carry on for many years to come. One part of your job is over but there is so much more ahead, grandkids, if your only child extra time on your hands etc. There is nothing you can do to stop time but accept your daughter is moving on into her own life.

awww quite sweet i suppose. Your 'little' girl, isnt so little anymore, shes growing up an your scared to let her spread her wings and fly. You still want to protect her and look after her, play with her hair and dress her up like a cute doll, but you cant anymore. Just enjoy watching her grow up. Give your daughter a big hug lol

You are sadd because soon she will be going to college and it will be hard to see your daughter go. That's how my cousin parent's felt when my cousin was 16-17 1/2
