We know that the projection of two dimensional material is one dimensional and the projection of three dimensional things is two dimensional (i.e. our shadow). So, is the projection of fourth dimensional things three dimensional. Are we just a projection and nothing else?

I will say our universe 4-dimensional(because our universe has 3 dimensions of space and 1 dimension of time) and four-dimensional universe, which you are talking about, 5-dimensional.
Yes, I think you are talking about Holographic Principle. This principle states that our 4-dimensional universe is just an illusion of a 5-dimensional Anti-de-Sitter (which has walls) universe and we are just an illusion of this universe. Think of it this way - There is a 5-dimensional universe which has walls around it. The entire information in that universe can be recorded on its walls which are four dimensional. Like we cast our shadow on a wall, what we do, the shadow does the same. But this is a controversial principle and radical too. This principle also states that our entire universe can be recorded on a flat screen or a wall. But this theory doesn't make sense on some points. e.g. Is there no bound on how much information can be contained in a amount of space. Can we see the world in a grain of sand. Time is the fourth dimension according to Einstein. There may be infinite other dimensions, but the four we are part of are exploding as a result of the big bang. The three space dimensions are on the surface a four-dimensional space-time universe, with energy and matter manifesting themselves as waves on this surface.

Not exactly. According to special and general relativity our world is a four dimensional one, what means that to express their laws it is mathematically useful to work with an entity formed by the three spatial dimensions and a fourth that is time (multiplied by the square of the light speed).
Now new theories are being developed, the string theories, that works with eleven dimensions. The spatial extra dimensions are supposed to be extremely small.

There are various way to try to visualize 4 (and higher) dimensional geometry. It may help visualize better by imagining how it would look to project or intersect and 3 dimensional object with a 2 dimensional plane. For example, a sphere passing through a plane would appear as a circle getting larger and larger.

We probably live in a universe made up of two dimensions of space and one of time with a holographic overlay that allows us to interact as if there were three dimensions of space.
Every entity in the universe it separated from every other,by time.
Your time point is zero, any where you look you are looking back in time.
If you look at yourself in a mirror you are seeing yourself as you were some billionths of a second ago. Your reaction time is one tenth of a second so you see no change.
If you put the mirror 9,000 miles away you would observe a jerky picture as your image lagged by One-tenth of a second.
WE know the universe works but we are still faced with the time isolation fact!
