It's an outgrowth from 'Goodness Gracious Me', a show which both poked fun at Indian stereotypes (competitive mommas bragging about their sons, fathers saying everything good is good 'because INDIAN!', first-generation immigrants trying too hard to fit in to English country society) and turned stereotypes on their head (one great scene where a bunch of rowdy young Indians go to an English restaurant after the pub, insult the white waiter by mispronouncing his name and ask for the blandest thing on the menu) :)
It's more showing how silly these preconceptions are rather than mocking Asian or European people.

Because the Kumars do it with a sense of humour. Unlike what is hapening on CBB, that is bullying. I'm not sure it's racism but it is nasty and people in the public eye should set an example on how to behave.

i agree the show is funny but unfortunately if a British show mocked Asians they would be up in arms so the complaints are nothing to do with do gooders or liberalism its a case of you don't like us to do it to you so don't do it to us you can't have it both ways

if there was a sketch which stereotyped asians as smelly and constantly eating curry and going but-but all the time the comedians would be f**king murdered by all the guardian readers in the country - but if it was the other way around nobody would bat an eyelid. Its a tragedy

I think Goodness Gracious Me was better, especially the restaurant sketch "Bring me the blandest thing on the menu and 24 plates of chips"

I totally agree with you on this 100%, the Media doesnt help matters when they blow it all up out of proportion either.

I don't think it's so much the stereotyping that is causing the complaints...it's the malicious bullying and comments
