I think he would be horribly disappointed by what has happened in the last 39 years. As those of us who thought he was telling the right message have been disappointed. If he were here, I'm sure he would still be fighting against the entrenched powers of ignorance, bigotry, intolerance and repression. I'm sure he would be pointing out the blatant hypocrisy of our so-called "Christian" leaders. But anyone as eloquent as he would not be allowed to survive. He would be getting roasted on a daily basis by Limbaugh, Hannity and all of the other mavens of right-wing hate radio. He would be the constant target of character assassination. It's sad.

He'd be almost 80 so I'm not sure how physically active he'd be but I have a feeling he'd be one of those people that never stop working and being on top of political issues until the day they die. I'm sure that by this point he would have had a thousand books published, received a few more degrees and become unbelievably successful. He'd probably be consulted on every issue imaginable and be interviewed by the media constantly until the end of his life.
