We value personal freedom very highly in our society. We would not want to give up the rights and technology that would limit the crime of stalking. So, we must take responsibility for ourselves by doing a little extra work which will keep us alert to signs of predation.

We know by finding patterns of unwanted events in our daily lives that tend toward making us vulnerable or that openly harass us.

Some cases are quite obvious, of course. Others are very mysterious. Keep a log of all wrong number calls you get, all unwanted emails or letters containing personal information, cars that you see in unexpected places, people who bump you or walk to closely on the sidewalk, carry a $5 camera to help document your suspicions. "To know evil is to be evil". Don't turn into a stalker yourself !!!

Shred all paper trash, lock home and car doors at all times, even while just taking out the trash (a half-dozen transmitters can be hidden in a home in 30 seconds), ask neighbors you trust to watch your home for visitors or vagrants. Ask friends to go places with you, but remember they will not want to be endangered and will not understand your fears.

Stalkers are often mentally ill, but very clever. No one is ever safe or immune without a team of bodyguards. Most people are not ever stalked, but we all should practice simple precautions for peace of mind and because they also help prevent indentity theft.

you're only being stalked if you feel afraid or that your security has been compromised (at least this is the case legally).

if you mean 'stalking' in that looser sense that so many teenage girls seem to use, then it's not stalking if you actually enjoy the attention. then it's called flattery. if this later turns to fear then odds are; you're being stalked.

Check around your house to make sure nobody is hiding. When you're out carry a mirror so you can look behind you... perhaps you could be a little more specific? :o)
