I have come across many excuses for not getting together with a disabled person - Many say they would be taking advantage, or they have no feeling, or even disabled should be with disabled.

I find these thoughts totally out and beyond reason. For in life, isn't sex mostly in the mind and the feeling we get from it is involving interaction between people? I believe this and feel more should open their minds to new experiences if they are socially active.

So, I ask: "Why is it hard to have sex with a disabled person (Mentally competent)?"

I cannot speak for anyone else, but, it wouldn't/shouldn't be if you are interested in them. When I "found" my other half, I didn't judge him on his looks, although I do like them and consider him handsome, he isn't drop-dead handsome, I was more interested in his heart/mind/soul than anything else. If he had been in a wheelchair, it wouldn't have made any difference in how I felt.

Being a disabled person I can only say that the person you are speaking of may be being very cautious ...afraid that people will see them as a novelty or circus freak. On the other hand they may not be totally accepting of their handicap yet and have a very low self esteem. You may be the nicest person on Earth but either way the scales are not going to balance in your favor. Just keep hanging in there and showing how much your care and how thoughtful and understanding you can be and when the time is right they will invite you to interact.

disabled people regardless, have feelings, too from what we have heard and read, as long as there, not comatose for gods sake, they may want some body too reach out and filll there needs if any or, if they arent that far gone. its amazing, how these people disabled may be sitting in a, closett, long forgotten about abanodned and just plain lonely. starving for some, some kind ofs affections. its ashame that they may may have had or want something from life--

I had a mad crush on a guy in a wheelchair for years and would have definitely slept with him.

Our timing never quite worked out, but it certainly wasn't the disability.

To tell you the truth I would also fine it hard to be in a relationship with a disabled person. I could be they're friend, but that would be as far as it could go. Nothing personal, you just have to know yourself to know your do's and don'ts!

Please don't critisize the disabled! When you know they are disabled, then why are you trying to get a normal act from them?

It's a shame on you!!!
