Is this one of those call a majority member an idiot and it's abuse, but call a minority member an idiot and it's RACIST abuse type deals? I don't watch the show.

I'm aware that it's bullying either way - I'm interested in views on the racism angle.

Does anyone know what Jan the Gooner is going on about in her answer? Since when is 'Indian' offensive, other than to Native Americans?

Bearing in mind the obvious weaknesses in their intellect, I think that they would have great difficulty in realising that their behaviour could be construed as racist.

They are probably blissfully ignorant and incapable of understanding how offensive their behaviour appears to civilised people.

We should not get so worked up about this vomit inducing version of Dog of the Year Show. They are all sub-normal with the one exception i.e. Shilpa. Although, thinking about it, I wonder whether she was best advised by her agent. These people who are being so disrespectful have a lot to learn from this lady who is obviously from a more civilised culture than the other occupants. She does not belong in this freak show.

I did wonder this myself because I don't watch it and the way aol said it I was thinking 'how is any of that racist'. I have been told that they said
'Indians all eat with their hands, or is that the Chinese, no wonder they always get ill'
Shilpa cooked a chicken and it was still a bit pink so someone said 'maybe that's the way they cook it'
Apparently Jack called Shilpa a Paki even though she is Indian.
Jackiey refused to pronounce her name properly, and said 'I don't f*cking understand it so I'm not going to say it!' It's not that hard to say though!!. She kept calling her 'the Indian'. It's almost like Shilpa was different than everybody else and wouldn't even give her a name. She didn't call Jermain the American or Cleo the (I don't know where she's from sorry!).
Jo made fun of the way Shilpa talks aswell.
So thinking about all that I do think it's racism and bullying. I think they are completely thick and maybe they are this way because they are ignorant and stupid. I don't think people are just pulling the race card.

Racism:
1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race

So what they said about eating with their hands is racism.

I believe Shilpa completely brings this on herself, it has nothing to do with her coulor its bcoz she trys to over rule everyone in the house she thinks she is better than everyone else and this causes tention. There was an argument with Danielle and Shilpa and Jade in the bedroom and Shilpa said " I dont have a problem with Danielle or Joe " leaving out Jade then went on to say " I try to talk to Jade but if she doesnt want to talk to me then that is her problem " up until that point Jade had done nothing wrong towards Shilpa just didnt make to much of an effort to speak to her bcoz maybe they didnt click, and personnaly if i didnt click wit someone then i wouldnt make an effort. So Shilpa caused the argument and the tention herself. I think their is far more racism coming from Jermaine than anyone else in the house he said to Shilpa when they first entered " Im so glad their is another person of coulor in the house " Also saying Jackey was white trash so if for example Jade called Shilpa Indian trash isnt that the same thing but nothing was said about that as being racism. Also Shilpa herself said about how she couldnt mix with the girls bcoz of the diffrent culture so she herself put up the barrier. The girls have tried to say to Shilpa come and chat with us many of a time and she chooses not to so it seems that Shilpa has the problem. Last of all Jade Goody has never said anything racist towards Shilpa so why is all the blame being put on her, and being of mixed race herself im sure she would be the last one out of the girls to do so.

I agree sometimes we over-react. But to be honest those three girls are definitely behaving racist. I always thought that the British are quite welcoming to foreigners (even if it is on the surface). I love the way the guys are standing by Shilpa though.
It is a small world, I have a feeling if those girls were in India they would be treated with some respect. Peace!!

I saw the program.
It is sad enough that Shilpa was cornered by these bitches, but what was worse & unbearable for her ( any Indian) was being called " Paki" . This is regarded by the Indians/ Bangla Deshis/ Budhists as a worse affront than being called a pig !Remeber " Bend it like Beckham "?The heroine, when addressed as a Paki, assaults a white girl player thrice her size.

It's about the bullying for me. And teh ironic thing is, Shilpa is really annoying. If they'dnot started pickng on her she would have been voyed out by now. As it is the public have got right behind her (rightly so and they are being absolutes bitches) and they've inadvertantly pushed her further towards the winners podium!

Oh the irony....

I think it's a bit of both - I don't think that any of those girls who are bullying her are actually racist, and I don't think they would be in the outside world. Most of the comments about her are not related to the fact that she is Indian.

However, the fact that she is from a different country and a different culture does contribute to how obvious she is as a target for the other girls, who have much more in common and who will therefore find it harder to relate to Shilpa. They aren't necessarily racist, but her race does make it easier for her to be isolated from the other girls.

I say it's racism some say it's not .But look at it this way if they are acting like they are and there's cameras around .I hate to think what they would be like if there was no cameras around .And to think this is going to other countries .They are showing the country up .The foreigners in the show are carrying themselves with more class. They are foul mouthed and there ignorance is coming to the forefront .Apart from Cleo who is to her credit trying to stay neutral
