not very much.

There's school, - and then there's the 'real world'

There's the academic way of getting thing done, - by the book, then there's what's actually done in the "real world"

School for topics like business mgmt., just teach you theory and whatever, -applying it after college just showed me how little I really 'knew', and how much money the college took.

For my 'chosen' field of study, - I've switched my career path, like, 7 times, and that's careers, not just jobs.

If by "university education" you mean a bachelor's degree in some vague major like sociology or English, then, of course not. But if by university education you mean medical school, engineering school, nursing school, pharmacy school, graduate degrees in accounting, foreign languages, culinary arts and food service management, equine management, biochemistry, and scores of other areas, then obviously the answer is yes.

Would you consider for one minute being treated by a doctor who didnt have an MD. Or having your medicines prepared by people with no training in pharmacy, or driving on roads designed by people with no engineering degrees!

Try searching for some sites online that explain the credentials needed to become a doctor, certified public accountant or head librarian.

I've heard that 80 percent of people who go to college and take up a certain major don't even get jobs in their feild. So i would have to say no

No. University education just gets you into your first job. Then you start to learn the specifics of that job. In my occupation, you study for nine exams after you get hired. http://users.aol.com/fcas/unm.html
