I am almost 38 weeks pregnant and I am having mainly painless Braxton Hicks contractions. They are beginning to get really annoying though, not really in a painful way but It seems like I can't even get chores done around the house without having a ton of them. When I bend over I get one, when I walk to my car I get one, when I walk upstairs I get one. Sometimes I will get one that is really strong and my tummy gets so hard. I had my membrane stripped and already had my bloody show on Saturday, just for your info. Did anyone have this? Is there any way to ease the B.H. contractions? GGRRR I am annoyed.

I am 38 wks also, and I had B. H. contractions all weekend. I had a few real ones but man I feel ya, annoying as EVER. I was 3 cm 40% efaced last week, and hopefully I will be more today at my appt. Like someone else said encourage them, and if they get where its driving you nuts just too bad, rest. Because your going to have your baby either way. Get someone to help out around the house. Just relax. I kept taking warm baths.
Good Luck to you and Your little one!!

Braxton Hicks are annoying but just remember they are preparing your body for the delivery of your baby. I had my membranes stripped with my third daughter and had her with 24 hours. So if you had it done on Saturday just make sure what you are experiencing is not true labor(when it starts out it can feel just like you are describing) A call to your doc probably wouldn't hurt either.

I am 35 weeks, and yes the BH contractions do get annoying, but think of them this way.. .this is your body's way of "conditioning" to get ready for labor... the more BH contractions you have generally the easier your labor will go.

To ease them a little, just do your very best to relax.. you really should save your energy up at this point anyway to prepare for labor! Good Luck!

At 38 weeks, you don't want to stop the contractions, you want to encourage them so that they'll get stronger and get things moving.

Have your tried taking a spoon of mineral oil in chocolate milk, taking a warm bath and then emptying your bowels? Experiences outlined below.

Sorry that you are annoyed, but your body is just preparing for labor. Braxton Hicks are sort of a practice for your uterus. Working it out and getting in to shape for labor.

Just focus on how wonderful it will be to have that baby in your arms.

try to relax as much as you can. maybe your spouse can help with a few of the chores around the house for now. sorry you are so frustrated. just think though in two weeks or less you will have a beautiful baby. best of luck to you .

I feel you, I'm like that too, and yesterday I had my dr appt and she told me I'm already 2cm dilated and 60% effaced, and she told me this is what BH contractions do for many woman....so as annoyed as you are, just think they are helping to thin your cervix and to help your body start dilating. It won't be long!! I started to lose my mucus plug this morning, my dr said she thinks I won't make it to the wknd...and I hope so, I'm feeling miserable!! have a happy and safe delivery!
