We had a gas meter fitted for the first time in June. As yet we haven't had a bill. How often should it be read? Thanks a lot.

I think i'd better start chasing them, as we don't want to end up with a massive bill when they finally decide to read our meter.

Every 3 months, they'll send you a bill. Sometimes, it'll be an estimated bill, which means they won't have read it themselves, but estimated your usage. You can call them for an accurate bill, which they will send to replace the estimated one. Pay the new one they send you. If they haven't sent you one yet, put the money aside, so you will have money ready should a bill arrive.

With a quarterly meter it should be approx every three months. If you have a pre-paid card or key meter then the timescale may vary as this is more a check on whether you are fiddling or not or whether they have to alter the meter charges if the price of gas has gone up. Six months+ is way too long.

The gas company usually sends them out quarterly. Call them and ask them to look at your records.
A word of warning: If you are with EDF Energy, keep a thorough record of every single transaction.
They attempted to charge me £365.00 for 93 days. I contested it and had the metre reading changed in April 06. Well, my landlord took the wrong reading after I'd moved out and EDF changed it back to the incorrect one, 3 months after I'd moved out......EDF is trying to charge me for a bill that was closed 3 months ago and trying to charge £120.00 for one month of gas usage!
Watch out for them, they are slippery.
Good luck and remember keep ALL your bills because you never know when you may need them. Sad, but true.

Should be every 3 months you get a bill. Most times they just estimate your reading a send you the bill.
You would be best to contact you supplier for further information.

We get ours once a month. You need to call the gas company as you could get slapped with a big fine for stealing gas. Even though it's not your fault.
