Because they only cater to the average size frame. I can't shop there because my back is quite tiny but I've got some lovely lumps attached to me. You could always try Lane Bryant. Both them and VS are owned by the same company. Lane Bryant is tailored more to bigger busted women, and I do believe they carry 36DD and DDD. http://barenecessities.com is another great site. I've ordered from them before, and as long as you know what true size you are in various brands, then go for it. They carry just about every size. Plus they have great sales frequently.
My experience with VS is just plain disgust with them. I've gone in just for spite to ask them if they carry my size and all they can offer me is a dumbfounded look on their faces, followed by a "are you sure that's your size" or "that's not a real size", despite the fact I can order it from websites and the size fits me perfect.
36DD - http://www.barenecessities.com/catalog.asp?size=965&style=&vendor=&nxs=31
And 36DDD - http://www.barenecessities.com/catalog.asp?size=966&style=&vendor=&nxs=31 Both pages have some really pretty ones.

Like another poster said lane bryant carries really pretty bras in larger sizes. I too am ample up top. Well let's face it; I'm ample everywhere and can't find bras at VS either. I wear a 38-40 D.
I have given up on them. I go to Lane Bryant or order online at Torrid.com.

I understand your pain. Stay away from Victoria Secret. They don't cater to women with your shape. You can find fabulous bras in a huge variety of colors. Try Fredericks of Hollywood and also Dillard's or any department store. My bust size is larger than 36DD and I have been lucky in these stores. Good Luck.

You'll probably have to look online for cute bras your size, but victoria's secret usually carries standard ones in both 34 DD. I'm not sure about DDD, haven't had to go there yet. :)

I understand that completely! In my case, I'm of short stature but have a large chest (38 DD, not far at all from yours.) Same exact problem. And what's worse is that manufacturers have a slightly different idea of what cup sizes mean.
But I do find that Lane Bryant has gorgeous ones. You can get them in any colour you choose!

Because like most businesses Victoria's Secret is run by men who define a sexually attractive women in a very small range of what women actually look like the world over.
Someday a smart woman is going to come along and start a sexy line of underwear for real women and I will be the first person in line to buy her products.

As other posters have said, try Lane Bryant or Frederick's for fun full-figured bras.

Lane Bryant is owned by the same company as Victoria's secret, and they have your sizes, and a variety of sizes and colors.
