Im trying to remember the name of a hockey player that played for the detroit red wings. Somewhere around the 80's. American guy in his 20's, dark hair, nice looking.

Not joking but he always got into fights and did a tv. comercial for a car company I think where he answered the car phone from from the back seat saying something like "mom, Its not me, there alway picking on me".

Its driving me crazy. Any help please.

Bob Probert? No, he's from Windsor.

How about Lee Norwood? He's from Trenton.
Or Reed Larson? He's from Minneapolis.

I went through each lineup in the 80's and those are the only two guys that had over 150 PIM and were from the States.

You can weed through them, too. HockeyDB is your friend.

Are you certain this guy is an American? Joey Kocur played for the Red Wings in the 1980s and was their tough guy who was always fighting. He was born in Calgary, Canada.

As Jakes and Chris said, Shawn Burr possibly but he was born in Canada too and got into a few fights but didn't have a fighters reputation. Chris mentioned Darren McCarty but he is too young (born 1972) to to be playing for the Wings in the 80"s

Joe Kocur was a real tough guy for the Red Wings in the 80's.
I don't know if he did any commercials but it's possible.
