No! I have 2 kittens named Raja and Reve' (indian and french) and Benny is my poodle, thats 3 names from 3 different cultures! I also have a Russian Blue Burlios!

The cat does not care what you call it. Call it Tamika, call it Mary, Call it Maria, Call it Joan D'arc. Just don't forget to feed it. And yes, you are not necessarily racist, since you cannot be 'racist' against a name, but you may be biased or prejudiced. Either way you are a cat-lover and have already lost points.

Does it even matter? Cats don't respond to their name, so who cares? Call it "cat". You won't offend anyone.
