You may have Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) or anxiety. Since you use the word "lectures," I am surmising that you are in college. If so, you can go to the Disability Resources Department at your school and have them evaluate you, though to get medication you would have to see a psychiatrist (not because you have mental problems, but because a psychiatrist is best trained to evaluate it). If you have ADD, medication can really, really help.

However, in the meantime, I will offer the following suggestion: Take copious notes, even if you never look at them again. By taking notes, you will be creating focus of your attention. This may not work for you, but it does work for many.

Another suggestion is to tape the lectures. An Ipod can tape the lecture, and you can listen to it again as many times as necessary. Not terribly efficient, but at least it's there when you are more in a mood to listen.

Whether or not you have ADD, there are many good techniques for people with ADD to improve their focus, and which can be found in books about study skills and/or ADD. You will find books on the subject in any major bookstore, usually in the Psychology section.

Get your mind off yourself or buy a good tape recorder. That takes twice the time, but it works. Maybe you need to be more involved in your note-taking too. Good Luck!! @8=)
