What is this country coming to ? a Paki shop , we rely upon for all kinds of goods. The chink shop for a takeaway. the afghan for a mini cab. Should Paddy the irish builder and Jock the car seller now be racist terms ? The issue of racism should be more clearly defined to include acts of law to prevent Accusors stirring mischief where no intent be involved . The whole English way of life is gradually being eroded by such Freedoms of speech .

I've always called it a 'Paki' shop, but I don't class myself as racist!

I think that "Paki" is usually a racial slur, and the first time I heard it was when I was a kid, visiting Canada, in 1974. We could simplify things by calling people "people", instead of calling them , black, purple with pink polka dots, Mexican, whatever. If someone is a jerk, they are a jerk, no matter what color. Freedom of speech is also the freedom to say nice things. Peace to all.

I don't think the word Paki is inherently racist. It is the way in which it is said and used that makes it racist.

Paki is simply short for Pakistani.

unquestionably not! Ethnic minorities might desire to loosen up. No group is immune from discrimination--even the final public. The raghead Paki might desire to recover from it. i'm beneficial he and his father have used racial slurs on different ethnic or non secular communities. He might desire to say sorry besides. I truly have been on the receiving end of slurs and purely ignore approximately them now. that's the mature element to do.

They call each other Paki all the time so it cant be THAT bad. If a word is racist or offensive it shouldnt matter who uses it. If an asian calls another asian a Paki its fine but if I call an asian a Paki Im racist. How does that work?

Paki is an offensive term because of how it was first used.
The term "paki" was used to insult anyone of asain origin or brown skin regaurdless of where they came from pakistan or not.
However like the "n" word it has been reclaimed by the pakistani community as is the word "queer" by the lbgt community. Nowadays however i wouldnt give you a second look if you called me a paki. Simply because your not worth it

I totally agree with one point you make. We need to define exactly what we mean by racism, because the interpretation of the term varies tremendously.
