Should I buy this Game and the BC expansion? All of my friends play, and I've heard alot about it . Does it live up to all the hype? Thanks.

Really, only you can decide if you like the game or not, and you won't know that until you play it. If ANY of your priends just got the expansion they also got two invites to a 14 day free trial, I would say get one of those from your friends and download the game and play for a few days, yes you will be limited in what you can do, no mail and stuff like that but you should be able to tell if teh game is something you would play.

Really it is also a question of is it worth the cost. Yes you have to play each month and htere are different ways to do that. What you are paying for is the overhead and upkeep cost of servers and software, since it is a growing 24/7 enviroment and it costs money to upkeep that stuff, and really you get what you pay for, true in just about anything.

So try the demo, or even build a character on a friends accoutn and try it before you make a decision

Okay, first off I would suggest that you buy and play it...so long as you keep it in check. One of the "tips" on the loading screen is to do all things in moderation...even play World of Warcraft. Of course most people who play don't do so in moderation, but if you do that then you should be fine. I wanted to comment on people's remarks about having to waste money paying to play. When you think about it...it really is inexpensive for what you are paying. You are getting a whole month of entertainment for 15 dollars. Go to a movie and get a drink and popcorn and you've had 2-3 hours of entertainment (though you prolly didn't visit with your friends during the movie). Compare that to a meager 1 hour of playtime a day (if you want to go in real moderation, though 2-3 hours a few times a week is more likely). 1 hour of play per day will give you around 30 hours of entertainment...or the equivalent of 10 movies. Now to comment on remarks regarding not socializing with real people...bullcrap! Your character comes in contact with other characters...and each has a real live person on the other end. I have made friends in these games that have lasted for years...one friend I met in Dragonrealms in 1998 (I think...could be earlier) and we're still good friends to this day. Not just friends in game, but friends in real life (to the skeptics). I also play World of Warcraft with friends from work. Several of us at work play and started our own guild, so it is a good way to unwind after work and spend time with friends who we wouldn't normally drive an hour to see every day. Also, when I was playing Everquest 2 I met a woman who lived on the other side of the country (I'm in San Diego, CA and she lived in Pittsburgh, PA). We started talking in game, then in emails, then on the phone and yahoo messenger. Now we have been married for a little over a year and we have 3.5 month old twins. We still play World of Warcraft together too (after the boys go to bed for the night), though not as much as we used to. So to those who get down on these games because you have no real life socializing, they are just...plain...wrong. It is a fun game, better than any other MMORPG I have played, and the expansion has already blown me away...and I don't even have it yet!! Just seeing some of the items from the new content makes me /drool!

It's really good, and it's really addicting, especially if your friends all play it. I wouldn't recommend it if you wanted a life outside of playing World of Warcraft, or if you have young kids, or if you have a wife, or if you go to school, because it'll take up a lot of time.

You can just get the first World of Warcraft, try it out and, if you like it, buy the BC expansion later on.

If you have absolutely no life whatsover then by all means go and buy WoW. Feel free to spend the next few years and next few hundred dollars enlarging your girth and losing further physical contact with REAL people while you sit in you computer chair. Yes, by all means do your part to keep the sidewalks and basketball courts empty and play an MMORPG.

Now that I've finished that rant. It is a pretty cool game with nice graphics and fun customization. Just keep it in check and don't be a mindless game drone who never moves from you PC.

I have two children under the age of 3 and a husband that has been playing WOW for about 3 years. We now live in seperate houses due to the fact that I'm sick of looking at the back of his head. If you want to turn into a braindead loser, go right ahead, I think theres alot more to life than playing a computer game though.

on my opinion No

Playing a MMORPG that firstly you have to buy
and then Pay a monthly fee is a waste of monny

if you want a good MMORPG buy Guild wars its basicly as populer as World of Warcraft and in my own opinion its much more fun to play
Oh yeah the best part there are no Monthly fees with Guildwars

but this is only My own opinion do what ever you like

well, WoW is a pay-2-play game, which i have to say is not worth my money to play

IMO, a game that costs more than a one off payment is not simply worth playing.

there are a whole heap of other MMORPG's that are both free to download and play.

all mmorpgs are more or less about leveling, and grinding to that final level (aka lvl 99)
frankly, playing a RPG game like Elders Scrolls 4:Oblivion which is more quest-based and gives you a large environment and a high degree of freedom in which you can wander and do things, is more entertaining

Like others have said before, try it yourself

There are trial versions for $2.00 which will allow you to play for a week. Try it out and find out if you like it.

Personally, I love it, but you have to work to keep your playing under control because it is easy to spend too much time playing.

Get one of your friends to sign you up for a 10-day free trial and see how much you like the game for yourself.

My brother got hooked on the first day.
