Your best bet would be to consult an OB/GYN..I know yuk ...doctors......but you have a choice of MD's out there...find you a female MD that you feel comfortable with, if gender is an issue....Possible causes may be hormonal imbalance, possible infection, activity level, athletes that train hard have menstrual irregularities, body size(either very big or way to small), all can be a factor...good luck

Everyone on here is right (so far). However, please note that if you are incredibly doctor-phobic, you can always decline/refuse an exam. In your situation, it MIGHT be possible for the doctor/NP to treat your situation without performing an exam. For instance, depending on the details of your situation, he/she might simply give you some medicine (birth control pills or some other hormone) and have you come back in a month or so. Also, if he/she suggests an ultrasound, you MIGHT be able to simply have the type that looks through the outside of your abdomen (like you see with pregnant women). Remember to ask! Just remember that, while you doctor/NP has your best interest in mind, YOU have total control over your body. If you want to stop the exam at any time, you are completely entitled to do so. And, if your doctor/NP cannot deal with that, you need to find a new one. Take care! You will be just fine!

Put your hate of Doctors aside go get this taken care of. I have 3 kids ages 19, 18 and 2. after i had my son (the 18 year old) it was almost 5 years before i went to the Dr again. when i did i had moderate displasia which is a step below cervical cancer. I thought i could have no more kids. well as you can see i had quite a suprise. Find a female one. Just for a little info, Guy dr.s are more gentle than female ones. My oldest daughter sees a male Dr. and i see a female. I have had guy Dr.s before. I don't know if this means you won't have children later, But you have to go have this checked out. What do your parents say? Have you told them? Good luck to you sweetheart. This really isn't something you should put off any longer.

You may want to let your mom know, if she is around. It may or may not be normal. You should really consult your physician. There are woman physicians around, maybe you should find one to see, preferably a OB/GYN.

See a female gyno, because this is a bit different. Are you anorexic? That can interrupt periods.
