Why would you want to withold your number? I personally dont agree with the provision . its an irritant in my life that i could well do without. If the phone providers adopted a service that allowed for ""Withhold your number you wont be connected "" it might make life a lot easier and less time wasted.

On a BT line:
To withhold your number, prefix with 141
To send your number, (if BT withold your number at the exchange) prefix with 1470
On a Mobile:
To withold your number prefix with 141
To send your number, go to the setting of your phone and set 'Send my caller ID' to 'Set by network' or 'On'
