I think it is a great decision. But all you need to do is to make some free time b'coz as a 26 year old guy i suppose you may have your own priorities and pressures .So it is important that you make some time out of it.I am not discouraging you i myself had such an experience.I too tried to learn Guitar which i could attend only for a month's time and till today i am unable to make time.
So as an experienced -My suggestion would be it is better if you are more focussed and determined you can learn whatever you want.

Contact a few local dance studios and local community centers. A lot of them offer classes in a wide range of dances for adults and senior citizens.

Sure, why not? Americans of all ages are learning swing and ballroom dance, two styles associated with their grandparents or great-grandparents. Dancing is great exercise and you get an added appreciation of culture.
I want to learn salsa and meringue myself.

Seeking knowledge and new skills at any age is to be commended. Both my parents went to college in their thirties, forties and fifties, and I have known people in their eighties taking college classes.
I urge you to "go for it!"
