Because you have to pay them up front, they cancel shows, change the times, show darts or football on both sides, etc etc.

If they had to find the money another way like the independent channels I bet they wouldn't keep mucking about with the shedual.
I'm forever missing the end of something I've taped because it started later than advertised. Or there's cricket on instead of my usual program. Or some series I've watched has abruptly ceased, then I find the last episode was screened on a different day!!

Can't something be done about the BBC?

Without licensed TV-systems the world would be full of crap TV, look at the US where there are cases of advertisers telling the stations what programs to show. If they don't follow, the advertisers does not buy ads.

So the system of lichens does secure quality TV.

TV licence should be scrapped!
In the US no one has even heard of a TV license!!
Its just a way to squeeze more money outta the British public!
