yes its true.. here are the details:

google labs trend is a new way where u can find out which is the most
country searching for a specific item. In their research for SEX guess
what
they have found
1- cairo is the top city searching for the word SEX.
2- egypt as a country is no. 2 and Saudi arabia is no. 7 (Check under
regions)
3- arabic is the most language used for search for this word.
...
WELL THIS SHOWS ONE HELL OF AN IMPORTANT THING THAT WE EGYPTIANS SHOULD NOT KEEP DENEYING THAT ALOT OF US JUDGE RELIGEON AND ETHICS MAINLY ON LOOKS...WHO WEARS WHAT AND WHO DOES WHAT AND BETTER EVEN THE GROWING MODE OF FORCING GIRLS TO WEAR HIJAB... AND UNDERNEATH ALL OF THAT WHICH WE ALL KNOW IT ARE SOME ASHES OF WHAT EVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE.

RELIGEON AND ETHICS SHOULD BE ONLY ON HOW YOU ACT, ON HOW WE THINK, ON OUR HONESTY AND ON OUR ACCEPTENCE OF EVERY 1 ELSE,,BECAUSE WE KNOW WE ARE RIGHT AND WE COULD PROVE IT NOT BECAUSE WE KNOW WE ARE RIGHT BUT KNOW 1 HAS ANY IDEA WHY

when i said force i mean all the things that happened latley..like that incedent in the university when suddenly girls who didnt wear hijab were pulled to the ground by the hair,, and now we have that safah el maadi...who hits girls who are wearing unappropiet clothes...and am not making that up....its all in the news papers..

TO NOBODY:
you r right.. i miss said that when i meant that people should be judged by how they think and their manners and their reaction in situations...but earlier i meant that people look at some1s daily rotine like hes a family man or that look this girl lives alone and the things that arent really important..

www:google.com/trends... Good fun! This is indeed a very interesting search engine. First of all, the results are all normalized, this means that size of city, region or language is taken into account. Secondly, the conclusion of some answers here that sex in Egypt would refer to something else than in the rest of the world is pretty much non-sense. Try searching "sex movies": Cairo, Egypt is no. 5! I don't think people are looking for educational movies here....
However it does indicate that there is a different knowledge of the english language. So "sex" has a top region in the muslim world and india, vietnam, croatia. If we look at "porn" these are mainly native english speaking nations. "Hardcore porn" gives us all United Kingdom cities, "Softcore porn" gives us USA cities only.

So in conclusion I dare say that in every country in the world, whether it is muslim, christian, buddhist, atheist, or whatever, people are looking for how women look like with no niqaab, burka, t-shirt, sweater, bikini, or whatever.

Stop judging religions for it, it's human nature. It's no use dressing women up in burka's. Maybe try teaching men and women that sex is a natural thing, which is ok to do or talk about. At the same time maybe also tell them that sex is only ok between two [or more, or by yourself if you like that] consenting adults.

Oh and it's not ok to beat somebody up because he's wearing the wrong clothing, not if it's the wrong soccer-scarf, nor if it is too sexual clothing.

P.S. Try looking up " burka", that also gives a very nice result. I'm dutch and the discussion on burka's in Holland is clearly more vivid than in Egypt....

This is truely a very controversial problem in our Egyptian and Arabic society. Many peope go to net cafes just to search for these "illegal" stuff ! The internet isn't just a window for these stuff. The Egyptian government must launch an educational program to show people the various useful ways internet is used fo which even most of us ignore or even don't know ! The net is full of knowledge. I'm not startled by the information I've just read about Egypt's position in.....It's too shameful. poeple in other countries don't even think of searching these trivial things nowadays but they search for "important" stuff. I've got a solution...In Saudi Arabia, the government has a policy called URL Blocker Service, I'm sure no one here heard about it but it's too useful. The Saudi government "invests" nearly 80 million dollars annually to initiate this service. This service searches all banned websites and word searches and block it. Whatever you do, you'll never get pass it except if your a hacker ! I wish the Egyptian government would do such a protective service to all Egyptians, especially teens like me and most of us.

I read that in Eldostor weeks ago. Fine newspaper. I think everybody should read it.
yeah, u r right in ur conclusion, though u said in line 3 of the first paragraph "a lot of us judge mainly on looks who wears what and who does what" and then in the second paragraph u said " religion and ethics should be based on how u act"
I don't understand how "who does what" is different from " how u act ". U care to explain ?

Cairo is the 5th by the way not the top.
Now clearing things a little, in Egypt, the word "Sex" refers to the sexual intercourse and whenever mentioned the first thing comes to mind is "sexual acts" nothing else..the fact is, the WHOLE world searches for "sex" but in different ways, and Egypt is not on top (I wouldn't be amazed if it even was)...in west, instead of using such a broad word as "sex" they use "porn"...because the former might have scientific or social meanings while the latter limits the search to the BAD things only..
now check up "Porn" at google trends and you'll find that Egypt doesn't come up aslan...
you also didn't pay much attention to the fact that Egypt has a very large population, so this wouldn't be a very fair comparison unless they calculate the percentage of the country population searching for "sex" !!
But, honestly!..MANY Egyptian guys look for Sex on the internet...and this is true, but believe me...better for them than having it somewhere else!!
P.S. : why the upper-case ?? it's ANNOYING !!!!!!!

---------------
EDIT : for the "Online is better" thing, I wasn't JUSTIFYING online porn, I just meant online "ahwaaaaan" men barra...but surely it's not ok either !
---------------
EDIT2!!:
thijs m you apparently didn't get the point !! I said that ALL the world is looking for "sex" in different ways, and Arabs aren't native speakers of english so when they look it up they use the general word...while native english speakers use more specific and refering words than "sex"...like "porn" !!...and btw sex is not banned in Islam, but premarital sex is, it's not a taboo unless mispracticed and that's for the sake of society's integrity.
I said Egyptian ppl are looking for sex like everyone else but they look it up "differently", that's why they come on top of "their" way of searching !..
well I can't make it anymore clearer, and if anyone else misunderstands this it -certainly- won't be my problem..
O and by the way, the size of a city has nothing to do with this, they count the number of hits not the percentage of ppl looking up sex in each city !! which is against larger populated ones..
respecting "sex movies"...look up "porn movies" and you'll get a totally different result...hope you got my point !

first of all, u shud not be using all CAPS cuz that's equivalent to yelling and why the hell r u yelling at?
2nd, ur info is incorrect... i checked it and didnt see what u said.
3rd, the whole world searches for sex, why r u concentrating on Egyptians.
4th, no1 is forced to wear hijab in Egypt. if they do not want to wear it they simply do not. Egypt is very modernized and u can see a lot of Egyptians westernized wearing jeans and tank tops and doing their hair, not that i think its a great thing, but its a fact. I wear hijab not bcuz i was forced to, but bcuz i wanted to, and i like it, and believe its good for me. why wud i want to wear revealing clothes and have men check me out? nope, i dont want that...
lastly, u probably found out ur claimed information cuz u were searching for sex urself....
