My wife made me sit through The Madness of Modern Familes last night (BBC2) and I hope that the selfish, self-centred, egotistical, generally hard-of-thinking parents represented are not considered Modern Families.

I think I'm a modern parent and couldn't ever act in such a disturbing way to having a party or entertaining children - I almost think this shows some people don't deserve to be blessed by children.

I laughed my head off all the way through it ... I really hope it was not an accurate account of all modern parents and that the producers had just gone for the most eccentric and strange people they could find!! 11 months to plan a party, my little one's 2nd birthday is in two weeks and there shall not be a zoo animal or fire eater in sight!

It's just sensationalist TV.
Look at whats going on in the Big Brother house (I'm not recommending you watch it, but it's so out of hand it's been mentioned in The House of Commons!).
It's all over the schedules. Supernanny, Wife Swap, You Are What You Eat, blah balh blah.
And as for things like Trisha, Jeremy Kyle - the people on tjose shows are just vile trash.

Uhm, the first problem is assuming that anything on TV (even reality shows) have anything to do with reality. You can always find one or two extreme families that imitate tv, but not everyone.

The bigger problem is thinking that you should be like TV.
