reinstalling windows every 6 months is only necessary if you have no antivirus or are corrupted your system to the point that it needs to be reinstalled....although I do recommend a yearly fresh intsall just to keep the system running smoothly, every six months just cause doesn't make sense...that being said, what you'll want to do is to "slipstream" your updated OS into your discs installation, you'll then want to burn a new copy of the OS using this slipstreamed info...you can find out the basics by going to http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;814847 This is the same way you would add in your update files to the installation....to find all the update files you'll need to change your folder settings to show hidden files and folders and possibly system files and folders as well....then navigate to C:\WINDOWS and look at all those funky folders that have names like $hf_mig$ or $NtUninstallKB885836$ the ones with the numbers (i.e. KB885836) are the update files and you can combine them all into a zip file or create a self extracting zip file or cab file to integrate the updates into the install....they still have to be installed but at least they won't have to be re-downloaded, and you can have all the updates right there before you connect to the internet and get the rest.

Once the update is done the file normally
is still there in Internet Explorer temp files.
Tools/Folder Options/ show hidden files.
C:/Documents & settings etc.
Search there copy/paste and save.
In C:/windows/IE7 Updates I still have KB 922880
KB929969, which I can copy to another folder.
C:/windows/ServicePack files /i386 ( 501MB)
copy and save.
Para two : Installing XP once in six months is
not a bright idea , . Use Back up option
You may edit your question and give the reason/s.

Try system restore instead of reinstalling XP.
You could also image your harddisk using Norton Ghost. That is the easiest way to backup and restore

You can visit http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/System-Tweak/AutoPatcher-XP.shtml and download their software for free. Burn it to a CD-R and you will have all available Windows Updates in one installer. I use this and it saves me a ton of time when reformatting.
