If a dispute is filed with a seller and they don't reply, Paypal automatically deducts the disputed amount from the seller's balance. The problem is, if there is no balance, Paypal basically tells the buyer no money was able to be recovered-there was nothing to freeze. Paypal mentions in the UA recovery of funds is not guaranteed. The only way you may be able to recover the funds is to file a chargeback if the dispute fails. If it is successful, Paypal will have to pay and then they will go after the seller for the debt.

Did they give a reason for not being able to get your money back?Same thing happened to me a few years ago.Paypal which is by the way owned by EBAY claimed because the actual item total 19.00 ( not including shipping which was another 10) it was under their 20.00 mark to reimburse me . ThOUGH THE PERSON NEVER responded to the dispute.lol I also use to bank with HSBC(bank of honk kong ) in Canada and left them with an incident where I went to use my atm/debit card and it claimed it was closed. I called they could not give me answers ...I went to speak to the bank manager he claimed I had no money but could not tell me why it was closed!!!??All my money vanished over night with them !!!! I had to get my work place to say they even deposited over 1000 iin my account the same day and it deposited successfully .They apologized and said they found my money it was in British Columbia in another account ...still could not tell me why this happened. They sent me off saying I will have my money back by the end of the day .This was not to be the case ...Three weeks wentlatter everytime I called their telephone banking they told me I did not know how to use a ATM card after all these years . At this time I had a few payments come back insufficient ...I asked them for a written apology they said it was against their bank rules to apologize by writting only verbally .Having a sister that quite working for HSBC and a mom that use to work in the head office of Bank of Nova Scotia I know that The bank of Nova Scotia when they screw up writes written apologies for your creditors. So good luck with HSBC trying to be helpful !!!!!!!!

Your dispute I think is with the company you bought your product from but if you dont have any luck with paypal its worth asking your banks advice. If you had used your credit card through paypal you are a lot more secure.Good luck mate.
