in ancient Greece what was the athens and the sparta, i don't really understand them, help

Basicly Greece was split in two proeminent city like a federation . Athens and Sparta .
Athens and Sparta where equivalent to super power ,they had conquered several small city , each city had their own rules ,but a Greek civilization was common to cities , in the view of history Athens is more linked to a "democratic" model city , especiallly in the elaboration of laws , and other service that the citizens has to provide to the city and service that the city provide to the citizen , the education is base in mastering liberal arts , singing , dancing , theater ,poetry , sport .

Sparta as left an image of a City were the citizen has to first been dedicated to the city ,up to the extreme , even death , therefore Sparta would trained very early its citizen to military duties at 7 year old , in order to protect their city , there stucture in communarist .

there view of man education , are really different , also history of greece show that even Athens could not remain at peace , without a military protection .

both city had share in common the fact that , the society of this time was split between aristocraty (bearing arms protecting the other citizen ) , peasant , and slave (prisoner of war or trade ) , which were used in both city .
in the spartian system the system would only distinguish the peers (equals ) proper spartiate , and the slaves

they also fought in common , when actually Greece was in danger ,to be invades by the Persians ,at the famous battle of thermopyles , 300 spartan managed to delay the attack of the persian Xerxes , enabeling the bulk of the greek federation troops to finaly withdraw in an orderly maner avoiding a disaster .

historicaly , Greece has lead the path to the future " civilized man "' ,, and remain a model of civilization for that time ,mastering of arts , sculpture , architecture , science , knowledge of early medecine, Polytheist their tradition elaborated a systems of deity ruling the destiny of man .

their language , Ancient Greek was the language in which the bible was initialy translate from Arameen, it was the language of the elite ,long before latin took over , it is roots to many language today , like Modern Greek , Russian who use the cyrilic alphabet , greek name are today commonly used in medecine ,
