I can see rat (or mouse) droppings all around the basement. It smells really bad. Can you plese give me some advice about it?

If you found rat or mouse droppings in your house then you would know that they have entered your house. Rat droppings are larger then mice dropping. Try to buy a mouse trap or use rat poison. These should be put in corners where you suspect the rats have their run.

I would get in a professional pest controller a humane one is prob the nicest thing to do they can advise you and hopefully sort the problem out.
Also look for things that may have been chewed by the pesky rodents
