Simple Past if time is known (even if not necessary to mention) otherwise; use Present Perfect

The "present perfect" refers to:

1. an action that begins in the past and goes on at the moment of speaking:
I have lived in this house since 2001. (= you moved into this house in 2001, and you still live there);

2. the duration of an action (with no definite time frame):
I have lived in this house for six years (= you lived there in the past, and you still do);

3. an action that takes place at an indefinite time in the past:
I have seen this movie before. (you saw this movie sometime in the past; however, you don´t refer to the exact time (= yesterday, a week ago, etc.);

4. a repeated action in the past (no definite time frame):
I have seen this movie three times already.
