Ok it took a while but I think I've made some sense of it. Don't have an answer though, another question. How do you define a lie? Is it something that isn't true or something the teller believes to be untrue. For example I could say, My husband is sitting at his desk, because I genunine believe that's where he is, but he might be have got up to go and make coffee (hope so I'm gasping for one) so that would make it a lie. Or I might say, That cheque has been posted, believing it hadn't, which would be a lie, but if it turned out it had, then that wasn't a lie at all, but i'm still a liar no?

So perhaps it is possible for something to be a lie and the truth at the same time.

A lie is a lie when it is a lie. The difference between the lie and the truth is that the truth always remains the same. Now lies, variation isn't event the word to describe it. Professional liars are called; you guessed right Lawyers – or Liars. They study things like casuistry, sophism and sophistry. They study fallacious method of reasoning and false arguments. Without these methods, they are in the wrong profession. As the facts change, the truth changes. But while it stands, the unaltered facts are the truth.

If a lie is told everyday on CNN and BBC and FOX and all other news media....it becomes the truth. Take the Iraq war as an example.
