im almost 17, id like some extra cash by looking after the kids on my street at night after school and stuff. I dont really know the families that live around here, so how do i go along with asking if people need babysitters?
I was thinking about doing flyers and putting them in mailboxes.
What do you think?

yeh flyers are definetley the way to go. put them by ppl's doors and stuff.

People in my neighborhood are always looking for babysiters.
I'd suggest going to some of the houses that you know have kids, knock on their doors and introduce yourself. Let them know you're available to babysit. If no one is home, leave a flyer and if you can put your picture on your flyer along with some names of folks they can call to confirm you're a good kid. Also add the times you can be free to babysit.
You may want to head down to the local elementary school and ask if anyone they know are looking for a babysitter or even put an ad in your local newspaper. Let people know you're availble to drive their kid after school to their activities too, if need be. This will help mom's out if they're working.

I would not hire a sitter with a flyer as an advertisement. If you feel brave, go to a few peoples doors and introduce yourself and let them know about you. Your parents could help by letting their friends know about you. Just anyone, including teachers and other, let them know your desire to baby sit. I started sitting at the age of 10. When my children were little, I would never have left them with a sitter that young. Once you get one client, they will tell others about you.

Post signs in laundry-mats, Place an ad in you community paper, what you could do is - go to some of the homes, introduce yourself and tell the persons where you live, and just tell them if they ever need a sitter, weekends after school, to give you a call... Once you give your name and where you live, the ice will be broken - and the conversation will carry on making it easier to tell them you are looking for babysitting jobs...

a better way to make money is playin' poker online girl ...that's what i do :P
instead of dirty diapers and wastin time listening to loud annoyin' little meatsacks doin 6 bucks an hour ( i don't think u will do more than that) u can be at ur room watchin' TV drinkin a soda listening to ur music gambling doin 50 bucks an hour if u learn how to play
