When I open the door, the carousel spins, the light comes on, and the fan blows. Close the door, and it all goes off. Push the buttons to heat something, and it operates normally. Open the door to remove the item, and the carousel spins, the light comes on, and the fan blows. Would you use this oven?

Microwave ovens use microwave energy to heat or cook food in a fraction of the time needed to cook with conventional ovens. Unlike conventional ovens, a microwave oven heats food without applying external heat. An oven generates heat via a burner (gas or electric) that is radiated throughout the oven to a certain temperature. This heat then cooks the food from the outside in, as the heat radiates into the food. An oven cooks the food a lot better. it may be a little slower but the food tastes a lot better and its cooked more evenly. a microwave oven is just a microwave. so you can cook food really fast but depending on what it may not work as well as an oven and it may not taste as good. oh and ovens you can set to specific temps, microwaves you can't really do that.

My first thought is that cheap microwaves are really cheap. If you can afford a replacement, dealing with one on the blink is just not worth it. If you're no sure if you're ready for a new one, you can get testers make to check microwaves for leaks. I bet you could find them at a hardware store or an appliance parts distributor or maybe even Wal-mart. That will let you know if it is potentially dangerous. If you are positive you can replace it right now, I would just avoid being around it to much when it is running. It would take a lot direct hits from a microwave to cause you a problem.

THERE IS A DOOR SWITCH THAT IS SUPPOSED TO OPEN WHEN THE DOOR OPENS. IT KILLS THE POWER TO THE MAGNETRON TRANSFORMER. THAT IS THE HEAVY HUM THAT YOU HEAR WHEN THE OVEN IS HEATING. JUST BE CERTAIN THAT THE HUM OF THE HEATING PORTION OF OVEN IS GONE WHEN THE DOOR IS OPEN. STILL NEED TO BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED SOONER RATHER THAN LATER. WHERE IT WILL GET YOU IS IN THE EYEBALLS FIRST. LITTLE BIT OF HOT HANDS DON'T MATTER TOO MUCH BUT THE EYES-YOU DON'T FEEL THE EYES 'TIL IT'S TOO LATE. MAKE THAT STEAK REAL RARE.

No, to give you a short answer. As cheap as new one are, I would not even consider paying some one to fix the old one. And you are concerned also, or you would not of ask the question. Free up you mind, buy a new one.

There is probably a short-circuit causing things to come on when they should be off. If it's an inexpensive microwave, it may be cheaper to replace it than to get it fixed.

Stop the power supply every time you want to remove something and it would work fine.

N.O. But I do not believe microwaves are healthy: all that radiation coursing through your food-takes all nutrition out of it.
Get rid of it 'cause it may be leaking toxins into your living area unbeknown to you.
