depends on the amount of stretch you applied. shouldn't take more than 2-3 weeks to heal. if you ripped a lobe it could take longer. i would go back down to previous size and let heal for a few months if you do rip. i did and i let it heal for a month and no probs. went from a 2 guage to 3/4 of an inch in 3 months. the maximum size depends on your earlobe size, where your holes were made originally (whether or not they are centered), and personal comfort. me personally, 3/4" fits my head and i can still sleep on my side. its all about how they look on you. good luck.

When you want to make the wholes smaller, use Preperation H on your (healed) lobes. I went from a 2 to a regular 18 in about a week that way. I have friends who were at 00 and went back down with this method. Bigger than that, and I'm not sure.
