But when and why? Y2K also say so right, but it didn't come. I concern because global warming is getting very serious and facts are proven, will the movie 'The day after tomorrow' become real?

Depends on your definition of 'End of the World'. I'm sure the Earth will be here long after mankind has left the stage. End of Civilization? Global pandemic? Economic collapse? Nuclear holocaust? All those things are possible, but most likely not. If 'The World' ends, it will most like be a long slow slide downward, rather than a spectacular thing.

Sorry, but I can only answer this from a Christian perspective.

People have been trying to predict the end of the world since the creation of christianity. Many early christians felt christ would return quickly after the Ascension, and gave up working and seeing to their lives; annoying to most if not all the apostles.

Many people saw the Muslim, Viking and Magyar invasions as signs of the end times. These groups invaded and settled in various parts of Europe while, in the case of VIkings and Magyars, extinguishing what little culture was left in various parts of Europe. These events never spawned the same end times craze that several later events did, regardless of the sentiments of 8th, 9th and 10th century people.

The year 999 brought unbridaled fear to many in Europe, who feared the end of the world would arive on the 1000th after Christ's birth. Needless to say, the 1001 eventually rolled around without any apocolypse. The panick resumed in 1032 and 1033 when people feared christ would return on the 1000th aniversary of his death and resurrection.

The year 1300 brought famine and drought to many in northern Europe, leading to the revival of the still existing apocolyptic fears. These fears were brought on even stronger during the Black Death in the 1340's.

Despite the long passage of years, many people are still trying to predict when the end will come. Oddly enough even many christians attempt this despite the fact that "the lord will come like a thief in the night." The Bible is preatty batant with the fact that no body can predict the end of the world. The newest end time things include Y2k, and the end of the Mayan calnder in the next decade.

There are a lot of theories on when and how the end of the world would happen, but they are all just theories. We would be better off not dwelling too much on it and just live our lives as we should and try to minimize the cause of global warming by being responsible persons with regards to our use of resources.

Why "end of the world" and not "end of the earth"? I think that end of the earth sounds very physical while end of the world is more of a secular or spiritual feeling. Science tells us that the earth's life cycle will cease to exist but this will take many, many years to happen. Yes, I believe the end of the Earth is coming but I'm not worried as I understand this will probably take a few thousand years to happen.

Did you ever see a falling star? Do we realize that earth is also one such body in the universe? And that we may not even be knowing 0.00001 % of the enitre universe or the truth behind it. I think if and when the earth comes to an end, it will be a split second and it will all be over..........the whole world will be nothing more that meteoric dust.

Stop worrying about the inevitable which will come around sooner or later. Try to help out by being environmentally conscious, but don't waste your precious life worrying about when it will actually end. People die around us every day, some not even having a chance to live it. Celebrate what you have now.

Yes, it is true. No body knows for sure when or what specifically indicates the "beginning of the end", but it IS coming.
