Marriage is not a life sentence as you put it: it's a love
between two people that have committed un-conditionally
to be with each other and to grow into being there for
each other forever.

I don't see marriage as a bad thing, although it should be for life. I think many people take a lot for granted everyday such as walking or being able to see. Marriage is another thing many take for granted. To have someone to love and love you back unconditionally for the rest of your life is a beautiful thing. We should all be so lucky to wake up every morning next to the man or woman we have devoted our hearts to. Some people will never have that and go wanting it for a long time and possibly never get it. Marriage may be a life sentence and very well should be, but its a beautiful one I hope I get to experience someday.

Marriage is like everything else in life; an option. If you feel so strongly about marriage, then why get married in the first place. Majority of the people choose to enter a marriage on their own free will, whether itll work or not is another question. Also thanks to todays society, no one is being forced to stay or has to stay in a marriage especially one who strongly disagrees with marriage. Also, marriage is not only a word but a union between two people under the sanctity of God.

Next month my wife and I will celebrate 32 years of marriage and yea the early years were a struggle, mostly on my part.. I needed to do some growing up and realize that it was time to dump my drinking buddies who were chasing "Skirts" if my wife and I were going to make it. I made the changes and don't regret a thing, we are best friends and the flame still burns brightly.

Its not so. It depends on how you take it and how the spouse behaves with you. You can turn even the sorrow into joy if you know something called love, adjustment and sharing in marriage. So stay away from people who make you think its life sentence!!

Marriage IS NOT a life sentence, BUT it IS a COMMITMENT made of LOVE toward one another. At least that is what it is SUPPOSED to be.

Not if your married to the right person, not if you've entered marriage with your eyes wide open instead of being all stupid like "Happily ever after" crap that we force feed our children, the best line I have ever heard from a movie, is:

"It wasnt that they lived happily ever after, it's that they lived"

Give me that marriage any day...
